Professional Experience
J. Ward Larkin recently joined SSH as a Consultant, leading the firm’s efforts in the Retail and Investment Sales sectors. Ward began his career in commercial real estate in 1981 with Cushman and Wakefield. Ward founded his own firm, The Larkin Group, 25 years ago, specializing in tenant representation engagements, building assignments, as well as multiple restaurant openings throughout New Jersey and Maryland.

In spite of current economic climate, Ward believes “there are going to be tremendous opportunities for prudent entrepreneurs and investors.”

Ward lives in Center City Philadelphia and is the single father of three college-age children. Interests outside the real estate industry include international travel and history as it relates to Philadelphia’s Growth since revolutionary times.

Ward holds a broker license in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware.

Education
Ward graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in Accounting.

Notable Achievements
• Participated in the development of 1608 Walnut Street, which has since come to be recognized as the first successful commercial condominium project in Center City Philadelphia.

• Acted as trustee in the bankruptcy proceedings of the Architects Building, shepherding the asset through a restructuring in order to make it viable once again, then brokered it 18 months later, garnering a 100% gain for investors.

• Assisted in the assemblage of 12 individually owned buildings on the 1600 block of Sansom Street, making a high rise development possible on the site.

• Broker of the Year for "Rouse & Associates" for the completion of a creative internet transaction, including 45,000 SF of technology space in Malvern, PA.

• Worked from conception to completion in leasing the retail food court of the City’s most prestigious building: Comcast Center.

• Created pricing and compensation packages for the sale of suites at the Wachovia Center.
